Woman arrested after Camden protest punch

A woman has been arrested following an alleged assault during a protest in Camden. The incident occurred on Saturday, September 19, at approximately 10:20 am in the Parkway.

Metropolitan Police officers were present at the scene where approximately 12 Restore Britain campaigners were distributing leaflets. Around 30 Stand Up To Racism protesters were also in attendance.

A police spokesman stated that a woman was seen to punch one of the Restore Britain campaigners and was swiftly arrested on suspicion of common assault. She remained in custody.

Further Allegations and Protest Conditions

In a separate incident, a man alleged that an unknown person struck his hand, causing him to spill coffee onto his leg. Although he had no visible injuries, he was taken to hospital as a precaution by officers.

Conditions were imposed on the protest under Section 14 of the Public Order Act, and the demonstration subsequently dispersed.

Campaigning Session Cancelled

Following the events of the day, Rupert Lowe of Restore Britain announced the cancellation of a planned campaigning session in Holborn and St Pancras. Mr Lowe stated that a donor would fund the delivery of leaflets instead. He commented that campaigners now face the fear of being 'scalded with boiling liquid' when congregating in the city.
