Ashley Wallace convicted of murdering Tyrece Balcha in Wembley nightclub shooting

A 40-year-old man has been convicted of murdering an 18-year-old outside a Wembley nightclub after a trial that hinged on forensic evidence. Ashley Wallace, of Shenley Road in Southwark, was found guilty at the Old Bailey on 7 August 2026 of fatally shooting Tyrece Balcha and possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life.

Balcha was shot outside a venue on South Way in the early hours of 21 September 2025. He was taken to hospital but died four days later. Police said the attack followed an altercation outside the club, captured on CCTV.

Arrest and evidence

Wallace was arrested later on 25 September 2025 after officers traced him to a car in South East London. Inside the vehicle, police found a revolver. Forensic tests later matched Wallace’s DNA to the weapon and linked the gun to the bullet recovered from the crime scene.

Detective Chief Inspector Phil Clarke, who led the investigation, said the case relied on a combination of CCTV footage, witness statements and scientific analysis. He thanked Balcha’s family for their cooperation throughout the trial.

Family’s statement

In a statement read outside the court, Balcha’s mother described her son as a loving sibling and friend with an infectious personality. She said the family would ensure his memory endured but asked for privacy as they await sentencing.

Bonnie Balcha also thanked the police, prosecution and supporters who offered condolences. She said their kindness had provided comfort during what she called unimaginable heartbreak.

Other defendants

The same trial saw two men acquitted of murder. A woman was cleared of firearm possession and perverting the course of justice. Jurors could not reach a verdict on a fourth man, leaving his case unresolved.

Wallace remains in custody. A sentencing date has not been set. The Metropolitan Police said the conviction reflected its commitment to tackling gun violence in London.
