Ewan Cameron to contest Holborn and St Pancras by-election

The Conservative Party has chosen Ewan Cameron as its candidate for the Holborn and St Pancras by-election. The election is scheduled for 8 October and follows the resignation of MP Keir Starmer, who has moved to an international affairs role. Mr Cameron previously served as a Camden councillor for the Belsize ward from 1998 to 2002.

Candidate Selection

Mr Cameron stated he was honoured to be selected for the by-election, describing Holborn and St Pancras as the community where he has lived and raised his family. He indicated his campaign would focus on Conservative plans for increasing police numbers, abolishing stamp duty on family homes, and reducing energy bills.

He will face Sagal Abdi-Wali, the Labour candidate and leader of Camden Council, and Zack Polanski, the Green Party leader. Nominations for candidates are set to close at 4:00 PM BST on Tuesday.

Previous Electoral Experience

Mr Cameron's past experience includes serving on the council's development control committee. He stood again in the May borough elections for West Hampstead but finished tenth out of fourteen candidates, receiving 376 votes. The BBC reported this information.
