Former nurse Jason Forde has denied eight charges of unlawful sexual activity with a woman who was a patient at Homerton Hospital in Hackney during the 2000s. Forde, 56, entered his not guilty pleas at Wood Green Crown Court on August 25. He appeared via video link from custody.

Extradition and Charges

Forde was extradited from Barbados to the UK earlier this year to face the allegations. Prosecutor Paul Fairley informed the court that achieving this extradition had been a process spanning "many, many years". The alleged victim was receiving treatment at the East London and City Mental Health Trust at the time of the alleged offences. The trust is now part of the East London NHS Foundation Trust.

The eight charges Forde denies include one count of having sexual intercourse with a woman described as having a mental defect, and one count of unlawful sexual intercourse with a patient. He also denies three counts of sexual activity with a person whose choice was impeded by a mental disorder, and three counts of being a care worker engaged in sexual activity with a person with a mental disorder.

Trial Date Set

Judge Emma Deacon KC set a trial date for April 26, 2027. The estimated length of the trial is four days. Forde has been remanded into custody.
