Ilford couple jailed for manslaughter after drugging two men to death
Madalin Dumitru and Adina Mihai targeted victims with GBL during sexual liaisons, killing Gary Mouat and Malcolm King
Incident → evidence → outcomeMadalin Dumitru and Adina Mihai have been convicted of manslaughter after drugging two men to death in separate incidents. Gary Mouat, 37, a businessman from Oxfordshire, and Malcolm King, 80, died after being poisoned with gamma-butyrolactone (GBL), a substance that converts to GHB in the body. The crimes took place between August 2024 and July 2025, as reported by This Is Local London.
The couple targeted men who had arranged to meet Mihai for sexual services. They took financial deposits before spiking the victims’ drinks with GBL, rendering them unconscious to steal from them. Both Mouat and King died as a result of the poisoning, Oxford Crown Court heard.
Victim’s son delivers emotional statement
Alfie Mouat, the nine-year-old son of Gary Mouat, delivered a recorded victim impact statement to the court. In it, he described the devastating effect of his father’s death. "My dad was funny, silly, loving and a trickster," he said. "Why did you have to kill my dad, you could have just taken the money? He was really kind, he would have given it to you."
“You have ruined my life and all the plans we had to do things together. My family is destroyed now.”
Alfie told the court he misses his father every day and struggles with nightmares about losing his mother. "I get scared someone will come to my house and hurt her too," he said. "Sometimes I don’t feel safe." Members of the Mouat family, including Alfie’s mother and grandparents, were present in court and comforted each other during the statement.
