The England international is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Thursday to face the allegation for the first time. A spokesperson for Toney confirmed that he intends to contest the charge. "Ivan acknowledges the charge and although he is naturally shocked, he looks forward to being given the opportunity to clear his name in court," the spokesperson said in a statement.
Toney, who previously played for Brentford and has 10 international appearances for England, made a move to Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli in 2024. He is expected to appear in court from 10am on Thursday.
