A London mother-of-three has broken her silence after nine years to describe the alleged abduction and torture of her husband in Saudi Arabia. Mira Lozi stated that her husband, Rami Naimi, has endured a "living nightmare" since his alleged abduction in Dubai in 2017.

Mr Naimi, an international businessman, was reportedly returning from Australia with his father, former Saudi oil minister Ali Al Naimi, when he was taken. His family claims this occurred during a widespread roundup of Saudi figures in November 2017, orchestrated by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Allegations of Torture and Extortion

According to his family, Mr Naimi was taken to Saudi Arabia and held at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Riyadh. They allege he was subjected to torture, including electrocution and waterboarding, and suffered psychological abuse. The family states he was also compelled to sign a document pledging a substantial sum of money, initially five billion Saudi Riyals, later reduced to one billion, which they claim neither he nor his family possesses.

Mr Naimi was reportedly released in January 2018 but was placed under electronic surveillance and banned from leaving Saudi Arabia. He moved in with his parents. However, his family claims he disappeared again in September 2022 for nearly two years, during which time they say he experienced further torture and they were unaware of his whereabouts.

He was later located in Al Ha’ir Prison. His family states he was released in March 2025 with an electronic tag and a travel ban. Mrs Lozi, who has been diagnosed with cancer, said she is speaking out of "despair" after nine years of separation.

"Without Rami our family is totally broken. I am broken, physically and mentally," Mrs Lozi said, as reported by The Standard. "He's a regular businessman and a father of three who was abducted for no reason, in another country, and then forced onto a private jet to Saudi and then disappeared and tortured."

Secret Trial and Further Charges

Following his release from Al Ha’ir Prison, Mr Naimi reportedly learned of a charge against him alleging he had "exploited" his father’s influence, an allegation his family denies. The family states he was sentenced to six years in prison after what they describe as a secret trial. They also report that he faces further charges related to allegedly following social media accounts critical of Saudi Arabia, which they also reject.

Mrs Lozi stated that their children have had limited contact with their father for over eight years, speaking to him only on monitored video calls. She expressed her grief over missed family events, including her daughter Noor’s wedding and her son Ali and daughter Saria’s graduations.

The family's legal team, led by Caoilfhionn Gallagher KC, has stated that Saudi Arabia is not a safe place to visit. They are warning other families about the risks, suggesting Mr Naimi may have been targeted due to his father's former prominent position, despite having no political involvement himself.

Mrs Lozi is now seeking public support for a campaign to "Bring Rami Home" after previous attempts to resolve the case through private and diplomatic channels proved unsuccessful.
