Man charged with murder after fatal Liverpool Street assault

Jeremiah Maximo, 38, has been charged with murder, manslaughter and affray following the death of Thomas Jewitt, 32. The alleged assault took place at Liverpool Street Underground station on August 30. Maximo appeared at Inner London Crown Court on October 1 and has been remanded into custody. The charges were amended during his appearance.
Before Mr Jewitt's death, the Crown Prosecution Service had authorised a charge of grievous bodily harm against Mr Maximo. British Transport Police confirmed the charges following an investigation into the incident.
A spokesperson for British Transport Police stated: "A man has appeared at court charged in connection to the death of Thomas Jewitt, 32, following a serious assault at Liverpool Street Underground station on 30 August. Jeremiah Maximo, 38, of Drydock Square, Barking, has today (1 October) been charged with Murder, Manslaughter and Affray."
Maximo appeared at Inner London Crown Court via video link. He has been remanded into custody, with the next hearing scheduled for October 21 at the same court.
