Speedboat killer Jack Shepherd jailed for 20 months

Jack Shepherd, who was previously convicted of manslaughter, has been sentenced to one year and eight months in prison for assaulting his former partner. The 38-year-old admitted to two charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and one charge of damaging property at Isleworth Crown Court in July.

Background to the conviction

The assaults occurred in February and June of last year. These incidents led to Shepherd's recall to prison. He had been released on licence in January 2024, but was recalled in September last year following accusations of violence towards a woman. Shepherd was originally jailed for 10 years in 2018 for the manslaughter of Charlotte Brown, who died when a speedboat he was driving crashed during their first date. Judge Martin Edmunds had previously indicated that the law prevented him from adding further time to Shepherd's existing sentence.

Shepherd is scheduled for release in January 2029. The sentence imposed on Monday comprises 20 months imprisonment, with an additional four years to be served on extended licence.
