Emmanuel Akintoye, of Howdens Close in Thamesmead, has been given a one-year suspended prison sentence and an 18-month driving ban. He appeared at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

Akintoye pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and possession of crack cocaine and heroin. The court heard that on November 20 last year, he was observed driving dangerously between Plumstead and Thamesmead. He drove from Pettman Crescent onto Western Way, where he reached speeds of 110mph on a road with a 50mph limit. Court documents state he then continued onto Eastern Way, mounting the central reservation and driving on the wrong side of the road towards oncoming traffic. His vehicle collided with another car and a lamppost.

The 38-year-old’s prison sentence was suspended for two years. He must also pass an extended driving test before he can legally drive again. Magistrates ordered that the crack cocaine and heroin seized from Akintoye be destroyed.
