Three men have been sentenced to prison for a string of smash-and-grab robberies that targeted high-end fashion stores in London's West End. The offences occurred over a three-month period between November 2025 and January 2026. The total damage to premises and the value of stolen goods reached £1 million, according to the Metropolitan Police.

Details of the robberies

The gang used stolen vehicles to smash through shopfronts before entering the premises to steal merchandise. Among the targeted locations were YSL on Bond Street, Bottega Veneta and Lora Piana on Sloane Street, and End on Broadwick Street. During one incident at Lora Piana on December 16 2025, more than 105 items, including handbags and clothing valued at over £30,000, were stolen, with the total product value from that single robbery nearing £385,000.

Sentences handed down

At Inner London Crown Court on Thursday, Max Tyson, aged 26, and Ryan Brough, aged 34, were each sentenced to three years and four months imprisonment. Both had pleaded guilty to two counts of conspiracy to commit burglary. Harry Johnson, 25, received a sentence of one year and 10 months after admitting to handling stolen goods. Two other individuals, Sonny Stringer, 29, and Olivier Ndayizeie, 36, received suspended prison sentences for their roles in handling stolen goods and encouraging or assisting an offence, respectively.

Evidence gathered by the Met's Flying Squad, including CCTV, forensic analysis, and Automatic Number Plate Recognition data, revealed the group's methods. They used multiple stolen vehicles to carry out the crimes and attempted to evade detection. Investigations also uncovered that the gang often sold stolen items for significantly less than their value, with messages showing Tyson receiving £1,800 for goods worth over £30,000. Tyson was found to have travelled to Cornwall to sell items, with receipts in his name confirming the resale of stolen goods.

Detective Constable Will Wigzell of the Met's Flying Squad commented on the impact of such crimes. He stated, "These robberies have a lasting impact on businesses, their staff and the wider community, affecting livelihoods as well as causing significant emotional and financial harm through the threats, violence and intimidation involved." He added that the sentences demonstrate the police commitment to tackling these offences.

What happens next

The sentences mark the conclusion of the police investigation into this series of robberies. Further action regarding the recovery of stolen goods or compensation for affected businesses was not detailed in the court proceedings.
