£20,000 reward offered for information on missing Islington teenager Alex Sloley

The Metropolitan Police have increased the reward for information about Alex Sloley to £20,000, as detectives renew efforts to solve his disappearance 18 years after he vanished. Sloley was 16 when he was last seen at his Islington home in August 2008. Police believe he was exploited by local gangs at the time.

Exploitation and repeated appeals

Detective Chief Inspector Sarb Kaur, who leads the investigation, said Sloley was coerced into criminality before he went missing. She urged anyone who may have been exploited by gangs in North London around 2008 to come forward. Kaur emphasised that individuals with information would not face trouble for speaking to police.

Sloley was described as around 5ft 5ins tall, of medium build, with blue eyes. Police have received multiple reports of sightings over the years but none have led to his whereabouts. A previous £10,000 reward, offered in earlier appeals, did not yield results.

Kaur said the force remains committed to solving the case. She added that police continue to circulate images of Sloley, both from 2008 and an age-progressed image showing how he might look now, aged 34.
