Driver arrested after police chase crashes into Gap Road wall, Wimbledon

The Metropolitan Police confirmed the incident began at 16:12 when officers suspected the car was cloned. A spokesperson said the driver was arrested shortly after abandoning the vehicle. He was assessed by the London Ambulance Service and taken to hospital as a precaution.
Driver detained on suspicion of dangerous driving
The man, aged in his 40s, was arrested on suspicion of failure to stop for police and dangerous driving. He remains in police custody while enquiries continue. The Metropolitan Police have not released his name.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said, "The driver failed to stop and collided with a wall and another parked vehicle a short time later." The crash occurred on Gap Road, near the entrance to Wimbledon Gap Road Cemetery.
