Metropolitan Police officer dismissed after restraining order

A Metropolitan Police officer has been dismissed from the force without notice following a gross misconduct hearing. PC Dawid Lewicki, who was attached to the South West command unit, was found to have breached professional standards.

Restraining Order Imposed

The dismissal follows a restraining order imposed against PC Lewicki by Westminster Magistrates' Court on 12 June 2026. This order prohibits him from making any direct or indirect contact with a protected person and from attending their home address or workplace. The order remains in force until 11 June 2028.

Gross Misconduct Finding

A misconduct hearing held on Friday, 28 August, determined that PC Lewicki's actions constituted gross misconduct. The hearing found that he had breached the standards of professional behaviour in respect of discreditable conduct. Chief Superintendent Dan Knowles, responsible for policing in south west London, stated that officers are expected to uphold the law and maintain the highest standards of behaviour both on and off duty. He added that off-duty conduct requiring a court-imposed order seriously undermines public trust in policing. Mr Knowles confirmed that dismissal without notice was the appropriate outcome.

As a consequence of the finding, PC Lewicki will be placed on the College of Policing Barred List. This prevents him from rejoining the police service or undertaking certain other policing-related roles in the future.
