Nicole Beling, 60, found dead in Croydon home as man bailed

Nicole Beling, a 60-year-old resident of Dittoncroft Close in Croydon, was found dead at her home on the morning of 17 July. Police were called to the property at around 00:05 after a family member reported her missing.

Officers attended the address later that morning and discovered Beling’s body during a search of the property. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The Metropolitan Police confirmed her identity and said her family are being supported by specialist officers.

Arrests and investigation

A 61-year-old man was arrested at the scene on 17 July on suspicion of murder. He was released under investigation before being arrested again on 1 August. The man remains on bail while enquiries continue, the Met said.

Detective Chief Inspector Alison Foxwell, who is leading the investigation, said no formal murder inquiry has been launched. Police are keeping an open mind about the circumstances of Beling’s death, which is being treated as unexplained.

The cause of death remains under investigation. Foxwell said the focus is on gathering evidence to determine what happened. The Met’s Specialist Crime Command is handling the case.

Appeal for witnesses

Police are urging anyone with information to come forward. Residents who may have seen or heard anything near Dittoncroft Close on 16 or 17 July are asked to contact officers. Information can be given via 101, quoting reference CAD 1695/17AUG26, or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

The investigation is ongoing, with no further details released about the timeline or next steps. The Met has not confirmed whether any other individuals are being sought in connection with the case.
