Police cordon Emirates Stadium shop after forensic teams arrive

A shop within Emirates Stadium was closed to the public on 14 August 2026 after police set up a forensic cordon. Officers from Islington borough command unit arrived at the scene shortly after midday and have maintained the perimeter overnight.

The Metropolitan Police have not released details about the nature of the incident. A spokesperson told This Is Local London that enquiries are ongoing but declined to confirm whether the investigation relates to a crime, a sudden death, or another matter.

Stadium operations continue

Arsenal Football Club said matchday and non-matchday activities at Emirates Stadium are proceeding as scheduled. The club’s statement, issued on the evening of 14 August, noted that the cordon affects only a single retail unit inside the stadium and does not extend to the pitch, stands, or surrounding streets.

Local residents and visitors reported seeing uniformed officers and forensic vans near the stadium’s south entrance. The cordon remains in place as of 08:00 on 15 August, though no road closures have been imposed.

What happens next

Islington police have not set a timetable for lifting the cordon. A further update is expected once forensic examinations are complete. The Metropolitan Police press office said it will issue a public statement if the investigation leads to any charges or if the scene is extended.
