16-year-old stabbed near Clapton station walked two miles for help

A 16-year-old boy was stabbed outside Clapton Overground station in Hackney on the evening of 9 August 2026. The victim managed to walk two miles to St James Street in Walthamstow, where police and paramedics found him shortly after midnight.

The London Ambulance Service confirmed they were called to St James Street at 23:59 on 9 August. A spokesperson said they sent an ambulance crew, an advanced paramedic, a tactical response paramedic and an incident response officer to the scene.

The victim was treated at the scene before being taken to a major trauma centre. The Metropolitan Police said the teenager’s injuries were not life-threatening or life-changing.

Police investigation continues

The Metropolitan Police confirmed no arrests have been made in connection with the stabbing. A spokesperson said officers are pursuing several lines of enquiry as part of the investigation.

St James Street station was sealed off for several hours following the incident. Police reopened the station before the morning rush hour on 10 August.
