A Croydon man has been charged with attempting to murder a man in a Mayfair nightclub after an alleged attack on 16 July. Sajeev Kumar, the victim, suffered an 8cm deep cut to his neck, exposing his voice box and damaging nerves, Hendon Magistrates’ Court heard on 18 July.

Prosecutor Manisha Kukadia told the court that the incident occurred at Mistress of Mayfair on St James’ Street. Multiple witnesses saw the attack, which followed an altercation after Lucci Guthrie, 28, approached Kumar in the nightclub.

Injuries and charges

Kumar sustained an 8cm wound running from his left ear to the middle of his throat, along with two cuts to his cheek. The court heard his jugular was severed, causing significant blood loss. He remains in a stable condition.
