Mr Guzel, 33, died after sustaining a gunshot wound in White Hart Lane, N17. The incident occurred shortly after 11:30pm on July 30, 2023. Paramedics attended the scene but Mr Guzel was pronounced dead. A post-mortem examination later confirmed the cause of death was a gunshot wound.
Extradition and Charges
Mr Syed was arrested by authorities in Cyprus on June 29. He was subsequently extradited to the United Kingdom on September 15. On the same day as his extradition, he was charged with murder. Additional charges include four counts of possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm without a certificate, and possession of ammunition for a firearm without a certificate. Mr Syed is listed as residing on Knebworth Avenue, Walthamstow.
Talip Guzel's family has been informed of the developments and are receiving support from specialist officers. Mr Syed is scheduled to appear at the Old Bailey on September 18.
