Man arrested after Hackney restaurant assault, police say

A man in his 50s was taken to hospital and arrested for possession of an offensive weapon following an incident on Mare Street.

A man in his 50s has been arrested and taken to hospital following an assault inside a restaurant on Mare Street, Hackney. The Metropolitan Police were called to the scene at approximately 4:40 am on September 12.

Officers attended the incident with the London Ambulance Service. The injured man was found at the scene and transported to hospital for treatment. His current condition is not known, the Metropolitan Police stated.

The same individual was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon. The investigation into the assault is continuing, and a police cordon remains in place at the location.

The Metropolitan Police are appealing for anyone who may have information regarding the incident to come forward. Witnesses are asked to contact officers by dialling 101 and quoting reference CAD1222/12SEPT.
