The incident has led her to divide her time between Essex and Berlin, where her husband, footballer Oliver Burke, resides. Speaking on Jamie Laing’s Great Company podcast, McKenna described the robbery as a terrifying ordeal that made her feel unsafe in the UK. She recounted waking up to find burglars inside her home, an experience that has left her with lasting anxiety. 'I get goose pimples now thinking about it,' she told the podcast. She also mentioned locking her bedroom door each night due to fears for her safety when alone.

The television star revealed that the incident prompted her relocation to Germany. 'It scared me so much to be in the UK and to live in the UK on my own, because obviously Ollie’s in Germany,' she explained. She has since clarified that she now splits her time between Essex and Berlin, a situation made easier by having a baby.

McKenna discussed the extensive support she has received since disclosing the robbery, particularly at the National Television Awards. 'I was just so overwhelmed, like blown away,' she told The Standard. She highlighted the comfort derived from connecting with others who have experienced similar incidents and expressed gratitude for the kindness shown to her.

A year on from the event, McKenna stated she is 'doing well' and 'getting there', indicating a process of recovery from the traumatic experience.
