Reece Salmon, 28, dies after stabbing in Islington

A murder investigation is underway after Reece Salmon, 28, died from stab wounds sustained in Islington. Mr Salmon was discovered in Lloyd Baker Street shortly before midnight on Wednesday and passed away in hospital the following day. His family has been notified and is being supported by specially trained officers.

The Metropolitan Police were called to Lloyd Baker Street, an upmarket Georgian terrace in Clerkenwell, at 11.20pm on Wednesday following reports of a stabbing. Detectives have confirmed that no arrests have been made at this stage of the investigation.

Family tributes

Mr Salmon's family released a statement describing their devastation. "Reece was a loving partner and son, and he leaves behind many friends and loved ones," they said. "It is impossible to put our loss into words."

Floral tributes have been left at the scene on Lloyd Baker Street, a residential road known for its Grade II-listed Georgian townhouses.

Police appeal for information

Chief Superintendent Jason Stewart, who leads policing in the borough, stated: "This is a tragic incident, and our thoughts remain with the family and friends of the young man who has lost his life." He added that the public could expect to see increased police presence in the area.

Detectives have implemented a Section 60 order, granting officers enhanced stop-and-search powers without the need for reasonable suspicion. This order is active across the Caledonian Road, Clerkenwell, and Hoxton areas from 4pm on Friday until 6am on Saturday.

Mr Stewart urged anyone who may have information to come forward. "The victim was found in a residential street, and members of the public may have information of vital importance to our investigation," he said.
