Two men charged over A10 death of Laura Sone-Demetrious in Edmonton

Two men have been charged in connection with the death of Laura Sone-Demetrious, who was struck and killed while using a pedestrian crossing on the A10 in Edmonton on 9 January 2024. Sedor Olmez, 20, of Gardens Road in Tottenham, and Roderick Mirzakhanian, 31, of Sycamore Gardens in Tottenham, appeared at Highbury Magistrates’ Court on 7 August 2026.

Both men face charges of causing death by dangerous driving. Olmez is additionally charged with driving without insurance. The court granted them unconditional bail, and they are due to appear at the Old Bailey for a plea hearing on 4 September 2026.

The collision and its aftermath

Sone-Demetrious, 28, was walking her two dogs at the time of the crash. The animals were also killed in the collision. The incident occurred on the A10 dual carriageway near a pedestrian crossing, as reported by the Enfield Dispatch.

Her death prompted a road safety campaign led by her sister, Gina Sone-Demetrious. The campaign resulted in Transport for London agreeing to install average speed cameras along the A10 Great Cambridge Road in 2025.
