Woman, 33, dies after rush hour collision in Southwark

A 33-year-old woman has died after being struck by a car on New Kent Road in Southwark. The incident occurred shortly before 8am on September 14, during the morning rush hour. Emergency services attended the scene, and the woman was taken to a major trauma centre where she later died.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed that a 31-year-old man was arrested at the scene. He was taken into custody on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving under the influence of drugs. Enquiries into the collision are ongoing.

Paramedics and a trauma team from London's Air Ambulance treated the victim at the scene before transporting her to hospital. The London Ambulance Service reported being called at 7:58am to the collision on New Kent Road, SE1. They dispatched multiple crews, including an incident response officer and an advanced paramedic, alongside the air ambulance trauma team.

Witnesses at the scene described seeing the woman hit a tree and a Lime bike. One onlooker reportedly provided CPR while awaiting the arrival of emergency services, according to MyLondon. The victim has not yet been formally named by the Metropolitan Police.
