Firefighters free fox trapped in Chelsea gate

A fox was rescued by the London Fire Brigade after becoming wedged in a gate on Priory Walk, Chelsea. The incident occurred in the early hours of September 17, with the animal discovered by a passerby.

Jelani Van Carlo, 39, founder of Zath AI, found the fox at approximately 2am. He told Talk to the Press that he initially walked past the animal but returned later to check on it, finding it still trapped. Mr Van Carlo noted that the fox's leg appeared to be broken and was bent around the gate.

After being unable to get assistance from the RSPCA, police, or a neighbourhood security guard, Mr Van Carlo contacted the fire brigade. Firefighters arrived at the scene on Priory Walk and closed the road while they worked to free the animal.

The rescue operation lasted for approximately 40 minutes. Residents from nearby homes reportedly observed the efforts from their windows. The owner of the gate was not present during the rescue.

Priory Walk is located in a wealthy area of Chelsea, with properties on the street valued between £5m and £7m. One five-bedroom home on the street was listed for £8.5m.
