Man jailed for life for Camden murder

Rasheed Abdul Rahman, 21, has been sentenced to life in custody at Wood Green Crown Court for the murder of Mark Carroll. Rahman was found guilty of murder on Wednesday, 27 May, and received a minimum term of 27 years. He was also convicted of having an article with a blade or point, threatening another with an offensive weapon, and robbery, for which he received a concurrent sentence of four and a half years.

Murder in St Martin's Gardens

Police were called to St Martin’s Gardens in Camden at 13:37hrs on Wednesday, 10 April 2024, following reports of an unresponsive man. Officers found Mark Carroll, 55, with a stab wound. He was taken to a local hospital where he died despite medical efforts. The court heard that Rahman, who was not known to Mr Carroll, approached and stabbed him in a sudden and unprovoked attack. Rahman left the scene but was arrested nearby on suspicion of murder.

Detective Chief Inspector Phil Clarke, who led the Metropolitan Police investigation, stated that the Met remains committed to pursuing those responsible for serious violence. He added that the force achieves a positive outcome in 95 per cent of murder investigations.

Mr Carroll’s daughters, Danielle and Ayisha, described their father as a loving father and devoted grandfather. In a statement, they said that while they were relieved by the sentence, it did not bring their father back. They highlighted that he was an innocent man who adored his grandchildren and that the family would cherish the memories and love he shared.

Rahman, of Dunmow Close, Chadwell Heath, was sentenced on Friday, 10 September 2026.
