Croydon cannabis farm worth £565k found after burglary call

A cannabis farm with an estimated street value of £565,710 was discovered by police in Croydon. Officers found the cultivation site, containing 632 cannabis plants at various stages of growth, while responding to a report of an aggravated burglary. The discovery was made on August 24 at a business premises on Beddington Lane.

Arrests Made at the Scene

Nine males, whose ages range from 13 to 21, were arrested at the premises. They were taken into custody on suspicion of aggravated burglary and possession of an offensive weapon. A 21-year-old suspect was also arrested on suspicion of theft of a vehicle. The Metropolitan Police confirmed that all nine individuals have since been bailed pending further enquiries.

Police Response and Findings

The initial police response was to an aggravated burglary reported at 2.45am on August 24. Sutton officers discovered the cannabis cultivation site during their response to the burglary call. Superintendent Rich Lloyd-Ablitt stated that the farm was "highly sophisticated" and "well-maintained". He added that the seizure of drugs would disrupt organised crime and prevent further offences.
