Newham tops London knife crime league with 824 offences

Newham has recorded the highest number of knife crime offences in London, with 824 incidents logged in the past year. Metropolitan Police figures show a total of 13,649 knife-related offences across the capital between September 2025 and August 2026. Southwark and Lambeth ranked second and third, with 697 and 691 offences respectively.

Victim Demographics

Of the 13,548 victims of knife crime recorded in the past year, 17.1% were women and 78.8% were men. Worryingly, almost half of victims whose ages were recorded were under the age of 25. The data indicates that 3,211 victims were aged between 18 and 25, and 3,087 were between 10 and 17 years old. There were also 43 recorded victims under the age of 10.

Bromley Stabbing Incident

In Bromley, which recorded 276 knife crime offences in the same period, a 14-year-old boy has been charged in connection with stabbings that left four people in hospital. Police were called to Bromley High Street on Thursday, September 10, where three boys aged between 14 and 17, and a 21-year-old man were found with stab wounds. The three boys have since been discharged from hospital. The 21-year-old man remains in hospital, with his condition assessed as non-life-threatening. Six other individuals arrested in connection with the incident have been released on bail. The 14-year-old boy faces charges including affray and threatening with an offensive weapon.

The Metropolitan Police data categorises offences, with 55.6% of the 13,649 incidents involving robbery. Threat to kill offences accounted for 10.9%, and assault with injury made up 30.7%. The remaining 369 incidents were classified as other offences, including homicides, attempted murder, sexual assault, and rape.
