A total of 27,477 criminal offences were logged across south-west London in August, marking a 9.6 per cent increase from the previous month. Metropolitan Police figures show that Lambeth recorded the highest number of incidents in July, with 3,565 crimes reported.

Borough Crime Totals

Croydon registered the second-highest crime total for July, logging 3,310 offences. Wandsworth ranked third, with 2,323 offences reported during the same month. Sutton reported 1,171 offences in August, while Merton recorded 1,159 incidents.

Kingston-upon-Thames saw 1,038 offences in August. Richmond-upon-Thames recorded 928 offences, making it the borough with the lowest crime total in south-west London for the month.

Crime Breakdown in Leading Boroughs

In Lambeth, theft was the most prevalent offence, with 1,307 incidents. This was followed by violence against the person, which accounted for 913 reports, and vehicle crime with 238 offences. Croydon also saw violence against the person and theft as the most frequent crimes, with 914 and 646 reports respectively. Vehicle offences were the next most common at 316.

Wandsworth recorded 623 incidents of violence against the person and 615 theft offences, alongside 386 vehicle crimes. In Sutton, 425 cases of violence against the person and 270 thefts were noted, with 116 vehicle offences.

Merton's most common crimes were violence against the person (368 reports) and theft (234). Kingston recorded 348 cases of violence against the person and 290 thefts.
