A substantial house fire in New Malden on Saturday night, August 23, required the attendance of approximately 70 firefighters and ten fire engines. The blaze, which broke out on Mount Pleasant Road, involved parts of a two-storey semi-detached house, including its ground floor, first floor, and roof. A car parked in the front garden also caught fire.

Crews were mobilised from Surbiton, Kingston, Sutton, and Wimbledon fire stations, along with support from surrounding areas.
