Wimbledon man denies murder after body found in Kent

Jamie Cooper, 27, of Kingfisher Court, Wimbledon, has pleaded not guilty to the murder of Dale Mundell, who died on July 8. Cooper appeared at the Old Bailey via video link on September 30 and denied the charge. He did not enter a plea to a separate charge of perverting the course of justice.

During the same court hearing, Joshua Miller, 33, also of Kingfisher Court, appeared by video link. Miller has not yet entered a plea to charges of murder and perverting the course of justice. The prosecution stated that the victim and the two men charged were known to each other.

Investigation into Kingfisher Court

The Metropolitan Police received a report of a potential murder at Kingfisher Court, off Queensmere Road in Wimbledon, at approximately 10:55pm on July 9. Officers searched the property but found no one present. However, they believed someone had come to harm at the address and initiated an investigation.

On July 10, the body of a man was discovered in a suitcase within a wooded area of Borstal, Kent. A post-mortem examination conducted on July 11 did not immediately establish a cause of death, as previously heard at Medway Magistrates’ Court.

Cooper and Miller are scheduled to next appear at the Old Bailey on October 23.
