Woman arrested on suspicion of drink driving after M25 crash

A woman has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving following a five-vehicle collision on the M25 in Surrey. The crash occurred on the clockwise carriageway between Junction 10 at Guildford and Junction 11 at Woking shortly before 2.50pm on September 20. Surrey Police confirmed the arrest of a woman in her 40s. Two lanes remained closed following the incident, with expectations of reopening later that afternoon.

Second Collision on Anticlockwise M25

Earlier the same day, a separate collision took place on the anticlockwise carriageway between Junction 13, near Staines, and Junction 12, connecting to the M3. Officers were called to this scene shortly before 2pm following reports of a three-vehicle collision. One person was taken to hospital for medical treatment. All lanes on this section of the M25 have since reopened, but drivers experienced residual delays of 22 minutes and three miles of congestion.

Kent Collision Causes Major Delays

A third multi-vehicle crash occurred on the M25 anticlockwise in Kent, between Junction 6 at Godstone and Junction 5, the M26. This incident brought traffic to a standstill as emergency services responded. Delays built to 90 minutes, with queues stretching for up to seven miles. National Highways later released traffic in one lane before reopening another, easing conditions slightly. However, lanes one and two remained closed while emergency services continued to work at the scene, causing severe delays for drivers approaching the incident.

On the clockwise carriageway where the initial arrest was made, delays reached up to 70 minutes, with queues extending back to Cobham Services. Kent Police has been contacted for comment regarding the collision in Kent.
