Poplar tower block fire damages flat, residents evacuated
Firefighters brought a blaze on the 17th floor of a 22-storey building under control on Tuesday morning.

The London Fire Brigade was alerted to the incident at approximately 04:30 BST on Tuesday. Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters were deployed to the scene. Half of the two-room flat and its balcony sustained damage in the fire.
A woman and one child evacuated the flat before emergency services arrived. Approximately 50 other residents left the building prior to the brigade's arrival. These residents are currently being accommodated at a rest centre.
The fire brigade reported that the incident was under control by 06:40 BST. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
