Simon Levy jailed for six years after assaulting 11 women on London transport

Simon Levy, 40, has been jailed for six years and will remain on licence for a further three after being convicted of sexually assaulting 11 women on London’s public transport network. The offences took place over three years, with the earliest recorded in April 2022 and the most recent in May 2025.

Inner London Crown Court heard that Levy targeted women on crowded Tube and Overground trains, using a concealed arm to grope them. Judge Michael Evans, who presided over the sentencing on 16 June, described the attacks as a 'deliberate, persistent and carefully orchestrated campaign'.

Victims describe lasting trauma

One victim, who wore a T-shirt reading 'End Male Violence' in court, told the judge she had been assaulted twice on a Jubilee Line train at London Bridge on 29 May 2025. She said she later discovered Levy was a registered sex offender with a history of violence, which left her feeling 'unsafe' and fearful of encountering him again.

The woman said she had previously experienced harassment on the Tube but had not reported it until Levy’s assaults. She told the court she feared leaving her home for months afterwards and relived the attack whenever she used public transport. 'I see his eyes, I feel the assaults and the trauma in my body,' she said.

Another victim, a student, was grabbed on an Overground train from White Hart Lane at 7:30 am on 1 May 2024. She said she now feels nauseous whenever she sees someone who resembles Levy. 'Even after the moment passed I felt his hand’s grip on me, the way he pulled me back, the pain,' her statement read.

Failures in oversight

The court heard that Levy was arrested and released three times during the period he committed the offences. He was first arrested on 4 November 2024 for sexual assaults, then again on 2 April 2025 on suspicion of murder, and finally on 1 May 2025 for further sexual assaults. Each time, he was released and allowed to continue offending.

Levy had prior convictions, including a three-year prison sentence in 2018 for two sexual assaults and a 2012 conviction for handling stolen goods. Despite this, he remained free to target women on London’s transport network. A pre-sentence report found he had shown no remorse for the attacks.

What happens next

Levy will serve six years in prison and will be subject to a three-year licence period upon release. The Metropolitan Police said it is reviewing the handling of previous arrests to identify any procedural failures. Transport for London (TfL) has not yet commented on whether additional safety measures will be introduced on its services.

Victims’ groups have called for improved support for those reporting sexual offences on public transport. The charity Rape Crisis England and Wales said it remains unclear what steps will be taken to prevent repeat offenders from targeting women on London’s networks.
