Security staff at Canary Wharf intervened to stop an attempted rape on March 14, 2026. Syed Imam was arrested at the scene and later found guilty, receiving a six-year prison sentence.

Nigerian dancer Poco Lee, real name Iweh Odinaka, has been charged with two counts of rape, one attempted rape, and two sexual assaults by penetration. The alleged incidents occurred in Tower Hamlets on July 23. Odinaka appeared at Thames Magistrates’ Court and his case was sent to Snaresbrook Crown Court.

A trial date has been set for Lee Culleton, 45, who faces charges including causing the death of Anwar Shinwari by dangerous driving following a collision on the A12. Culleton is also accused of multiple other driving offences.

A 50-year-old man from Lewisham has appeared in court charged with causing the death of Ghulan Malik. The incident occurred on Leyton High Road in September 2024, and the victim died more than a week later. The case will now proceed to Snaresbrook Crown Court.

An inquest into the death of motorcyclist Anwar Shinwari, killed in a hit-and-run on the A12 at Whalebone Lane North, has been opened at East London Coroner’s Court. The driver, charged with five offences, is due in Snaresbrook Crown Court on 25 August.
